Last night before bed I cried. I'm not sure why or how, exactly, but I did. I was thanking God for so many people and opportunities, and then all of a sudden I was just overwhelmed with this feeling of guilt. Or, maybe not guilt, but sadness. As if I was failing God again and again and He was still there. It's so hard to put him in front of everything else, and last night I was confessing to Him that I was doubting that. That power that He has to make everything okay. And then I was crying. My mouth got that horrible taste of mucus that makes me hate crying. But my eyes were flowing like waterfalls and my body was shaking. I may sound crazy or insane, but that's what happened. And then I held out my arms for a hug. And somehow, I think He was there.
Ultimately, I think that is the true purpose of God. He's not just the creator or our protector, He is our comfort and strength. Whenever we feel like breaking down or shutting out everything, He is there to save us. He is my savior. And he is yours too.
"Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn; look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave you birth. When I called him he was but one, and I blessed him and made him many. The Lord will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing." - Isaiah 51:1-3
